My inspiration for this little skirt is clear, it is my little darling girl. Lately, I have been dreaming up little knits for her to wear.
YARN: approx 140 yards of worsted weight mercerized merino wool. Red Heart Chic Sheep in Green Tea
NOTIONS: knitting tool, tapestry needle, crochet hook size H (to crochet the chain to use to cinch the skirt)
GAUGE: 9.5 sts x 15 rows= 2 inches in stockinette
SIZE: 6-12 months
NOTE: Stitch pattern is over 10 stitches, to make a smaller/larger size, use a knitting loom with a multiple of 10 pegs
k=knit stitch or u-stitch (not ewrap)
cdd=centered double decrease. Over 3 pegs. Move loops to the sides to the center peg. Example: Peg 3-Peg 2- Peg 1, move loop from peg 1 to peg 2. Move loop from peg 3 to peg 2. When working the centered peg, treat all loops as one loop.
Cast on 80 sts, join to work in the rnd.
Rnd 1 and Rnd 3: k to end of rnd.
Rnd 2 and Rnd 4: p to end of rnd.
Rnd 5: *k1, yo, k3, cdd, k3, yo; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 6: k to end of rnd.
Rnd 7: *k2, yo, k2, cdd, k2, yo, k1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 8: k to end of rnd.
Rnd 9: *k3, yo, k1, cdd, k1, yo, k2; rep from * to end
Rnd 10: k to end of rnd.
Rnd 11: *k4, yo, cdd, yo, k3; rep from * to end
Rnd 12: k to end of rnd.
Rep Rnd 12: until panel measures approx. 7-inches from cast on edge.
Next 5 rnds: *k2, p2; rep from * to end
Bind off with basic bind off method.
Crochet a chain that is approximately 22 inches in length.
Pass the chain through the ribbing section of the skirt, skipping over the purl stitches (see pictures below). Make a knot at each end of the crochet chain.
Weave all ends in, block lightly.
