Ode to Spring Shawlette

Springtime skies bring a lovely hue of blues, some days as bright as turquoise blue, yet others as dark as grayish blue. Amidst the blues, the earth brings forth new life, blossoms high up in the trees, and tiny buds of life all around. 

LOOM:  Premium Round Loom Set, 80 peg orange knitting loom.

YARN:  Approx 300 yards of worsted weight acrylic, cotton blend yarn. Sample used Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball in Wind Chimes color. 5.3oz/481yd | 150g/440m

NOTIONS:  Knitting tool

GAUGE:  not relevant for this project

SIZE:  Approx 24” at widest point x 54” in length

ABBREVIATIONS

ek=ewrap knit

inc=increase (make one (m1) method used)

k=knit

k2tog=knit two stitches together

p=purl stitch

ssk=slip, slip knit two stitches together

sl=slip or skip peg with yarn towards back of peg

st(s)=stitch(es)

yo=yarn over

INSTRUCTIONS

Set up of loom: Ewrap  5 pegs from Right-to-Left. Ewrap knit back to peg 1.

Row 1: [ek1, inc1]2x, k2tog, k1. (Increased row by 1 stitch)

Row 2: Sl1, p to end.

Row 3: [ek1, inc1]2x, work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. (Increased by 1 stitch)

Row 4: Sl1, p to end.

Rep Row 3-Row 4:  until you have 77 sts on the knitting loom.

Continue onto lace section as follows (note, the first 3 pegs and last pegs are edge stitches, you will maintain a garter stitch edge on those pegs).

 

Next row: sl1, ek2, *ek1, yo,  ek1, ssk, k2tog, ek1, yo; rep from * to last 4 sts, ek3, k1.

Next row: Sl1, p2, ek to last 3 sts, p2, k1.

Rep last two rows: 22 times, or until it reaches the desired length

Next row: sl1, ek to last stitch, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last stitch, k1.

Rep last two rows: 1 more time.

Bind off with basic bind off method. Weave all ends in.

Steam block to open up the lace sections and to set the stitches.
