Bluebells Bonnet Set w/stitch video

 

LOOM:  Baby-Knit Looms.

YARN:  Approx 200 yards of worsted weight yarn merino wool. Madeline Tosh Vintage was used in sample (1 skein) in color Wellies Heather.

NOTIONS:  tapestry needle, row counter (optional).

GAUGE: 11 sts x 15 rows = 2”.

SIZE: Fits newborn-3 months old.

ABBREVIATIONS

Sl=slip (skip peg with yarn behind the peg)

K=knit stitch

P=purl stitch

St(s)=stitch(es)

Rep=repeat

Rnd(s)=rounds

yo=yarn over (place working yarn in front of empty peg)

k2tog=knit two stitches together

cdd= centered double decrease on a loom. Over 3 pegs. Move loop from peg 1 to peg 2, move loop from peg 3 to peg 2.  Peg 1 is empty, peg 2 has 3 loops, peg 3 has 3 loops. Treat all 3 loops as one when you work the peg.

NOTE: Bonnet is worked flat then seamed to create the bonnet shape

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 56 sts, prepare to work a flat panel.

Row 1, 3, 5, 7: sl1, k to end of row.

Row 2, 4, 6, 8: sl1, p to last peg, k1.

Row 9, 11: sl1, k1, p2, *k3, p2; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.

Row 10, 12: sl1, p3, *k3, p2; rep from * to last 2 sts, p1, k1.

Row 13: sl1, k1, p2, *yo, cdd, yo, p2; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.

Row 14: As row 10.

Repeat Rows 9-14: 4 more times.

Place a marker on the first stitch of the next row.

You will be decreasing stitches every other row.

Next row: sl1, *k7, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, *k6, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, *k5, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, *k4, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, *k3, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, *k2, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, *k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Next row: sl1, p to last st, k1.

Remove with gather bind off method. Leave a long yarn tail end.

Use yarn tail-end to seam up the side to the marker.

Weave in ends. Wet block to set stitches.

Create Two I-cords for the ties

Cast on 3 stitches from right to left.

Row 1: **With yarn coming from peg 3, take yarn to peg 1. Knit from peg 1 to peg 3.**

Repeat from ** to ** until you have an icord that is approximately 12-inches in length.

Bind off.

Weave ends in.

Assembly

Secure the I-cords to the front side of the bonnet. Weave in all ends.

Baby Booties Instructions

Leg

Cast on 24 sts, prepare to work in the round.

Rnd 1-4: *k2, p2; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rnd 5-10: k to end of rnd.

Heel—(follow Heel Instructions below)

Sole and Instep

Next rnd: k to end of rnd.

Rep last rnd until bootie measures approx 3-3.5 inches from the back of heel.

Remove with Gather Bind Off method.

Weave all ends in. Block lightly.

German Short-Row Instructions (24-peg loom—heel over 12 pegs).

How-to short row: knit the peg, bring the working yarn from the back to the front of the peg, gently tug on the yarn and bring it to the adjacent peg to knit.

Row 1: Knit from peg 1 to peg 12. Short-row on peg 12.

Row 2: Knit from peg 11 to peg 1. Short-row on peg 1.

Row 3: Knit from peg 2 to peg 11. Short-row on peg 11.

Row 4: Knit from peg 10 to peg 2. Short-row on peg 2.

Row 5: Knit from peg 3 to peg 10. Short-row on peg 10.

Row 6: Knit from peg 9 to peg 3. Short-row on peg 3.

Row 7: Knit from peg 4 to peg 9. Short-row on peg 9.

Row 8: Knit from peg 9 to peg 4. Short-row on peg 4.

Row 9: Knit from peg 5 to peg 10. Short-row on peg 10.

Row 10: Knit from peg 9 to peg 3. Short-row on peg 3.

Row 11: Knit from peg 4 to peg 11. Short-row on peg 11.

Row 12: Knit from peg 10 to peg 3. Short-row on peg 2.

Row 13: Knit from peg 3 to peg 11. Short-row on peg 12.

Row 14: Knit from peg 11 to peg 2. Short-row on peg 1.

Row 15: Knit from peg 2 to peg 12. Short-row on peg 13.

Row 16: Knit from peg 12 to peg 1. Short-row on peg 24.

You will have the short-row on pegs 13 and 24. When working this round on the next round, treat the stitches as normal.

    And how can knit 2 together without yarnover
    Can you explain it please
    Because i want to do this pattern as a gift?

  2. Hi,
    this specific pattern, you do not need a YO next to the K2tog, You are using the K2tog to decrease the number of pegs/stitches. If you were to add a YO, the number of stitches would remain the same.
